About Bathaus FI Small

Bathaus FI Small is an altered version of Bathaus FI, to allow a greater scaling down. The use of both thin thread (60) and thin needle (60) are mandatory.

Bathaus FI Small ships as 108 pre-digitized glyphs. Each letter is a set of satin columns with its stitch direction, underlay and pull compensation already decided by the person who drew it — the same reason a real embroidery font beats converting a desktop typeface, where the outline is only a shape and something has to guess at the stitching.

What size to stitch it at

The font was digitized at 30mm cap height. Treat that as the size it looks best at, and scale within roughly half to double it without worrying. This is one of the small-lettering faces, drawn deliberately to hold together under about 8mm — use it where a display font would close up.

What it is good for

Bathaus FI Small is a general-purpose face — the safe choice for legibility, and the most forgiving on knits, pique and performance fabric where a fussier font distorts.

Downloading Bathaus FI Small as a stitch file

There is nothing to install. Type your text in the text generator, set the height, arch the baseline if you want a curve, and export. The same design writes to PES (Brother, Baby Lock), DST (Tajima and most industrial machines), JEF and SEW (Janome, Elna), EXP (Melco, Bernina), VP3 (Husqvarna Viking, Pfaff) and XXX (Singer), so you can take the same lettering to whichever machine you are on. If you already have the file in the wrong format, the file converter will re-encode it.
