About Emilio 20 Simple

Emilio is a font with capital only and numbers. Every satin has zigzag underlay.

Emilio 20 Simple ships as 36 pre-digitized glyphs. Each letter is a set of satin columns with its stitch direction, underlay and pull compensation already decided by the person who drew it — the same reason a real embroidery font beats converting a desktop typeface, where the outline is only a shape and something has to guess at the stitching.

What size to stitch it at

The font was digitized at 42mm cap height. Treat that as the size it looks best at, and scale within roughly half to double it without worrying. It is a large face, so it is happiest as a single word or a monogram rather than a line of small text; shrinking it far below its design size will pinch the narrow parts of each letter.

What it is good for

Emilio 20 Simple reads formally — awards, crests, club and school work. Serifs are small satin columns of their own, so keep the height up or they blur into the stems.

Downloading Emilio 20 Simple as a stitch file

There is nothing to install. Type your text in the text generator, set the height, arch the baseline if you want a curve, and export. The same design writes to PES (Brother, Baby Lock), DST (Tajima and most industrial machines), JEF and SEW (Janome, Elna), EXP (Melco, Bernina), VP3 (Husqvarna Viking, Pfaff) and XXX (Singer), so you can take the same lettering to whichever machine you are on. If you already have the file in the wrong format, the file converter will re-encode it.
