Convert JEF to PES

How to convert JEF to PES

What changes, and what does not
Nothing about the stitching changes. JEF and PES are two ways of writing down the same thing — a list of needle positions with commands between them — so the conversion rewrites the list, not the design. Your PES file will report the same physical size and essentially the same stitch count as the JEF you started with.
Both formats store a thread list, so your colours come across with the design.
One difference you will see in the numbers above: PES turns most jumps into trims. A jump moves the needle with the thread still attached; PES encodes all but the first as a cut-and-move, so a JEF file with nine jumps becomes a PES file with eight trims. That is the format's own convention, not damage — the machine sews the same path, it just snips between blocks instead of trailing thread. It means a little more trimming on the back and, on some machines, a few extra seconds per colour block.
Which machines read PES?

Files can also be read from a wider set — HUS, SHV, PHB, PHC, JPX, EMD, PCS, U01, TAP and several older industrial formats — even though those are not offered as outputs.
